DUBAI EXPO2020 “Mobilizing Big Data and data science for the SDGs”

Event Description

Organized by the Federal Competitiveness & Statistics Centre, a Government center affiliated with the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs in the United Arab Emirates, together with the UN Statistics Division (UNSD) of the UN Department of Economic & Social Affairs, and the UN Committee of Experts on Big Data Science for Official Statistics (UN-CEBD), the event’s focus was on on enabling data-driven transformation for better decision making.

This event took place in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates from 25 – 27 January 2022 under the theme “Mobilizing Big Data and Data Science for the Sustainable Development Goals Event”.

Participating in a 3-day event at Expo2020 in Dubai on “Mobilizing Big Data and data science for the SDGs” has been a good opportunity for NISR delegates to learn together, sharing knowledge, experiences and methods for non-traditional data use for official statistics. It was an occasion to discuss available opportunities of Big data for official statistics modernization and associated challenges to mention like ongoing efforts to standardize Big data methodologies to compute development indicators. NISR delegates participated in technical sessions on privacy preservation, earth observation and capacity building plan.
